This article will help you to understand the Exposed Data Section of the Perimeter Report.
What is the Exposed Data section?
The scan leverages searches of the dark web to see if information relating to this organization has been breached and is being sold. Any data that is found is presented in this section.
It is common for data to be breached at some point, but it is an important reminder for the users listed in this section to ensure good password hygiene is being practiced.
How can the Insured remediate these results?
This is the only section of the Cyber Risk Report that users are not able to remediate, as once data has been breached, it is not possible to remove it from the internet.
Therefore, the recommendation is that passwords are reset or rotated for any breached sites, especially if users use the same password for multiple logins. It is also good to ensure that affected users are always practicing proper digital hygiene by using strong, unique passwords, MFA/2FA, and other techniques. Affected users may also consider looking into Fraud Monitoring or Identity Monitoring services.
